Sermon outline 5th May 2024 | Rev. Samantha Teh

Title : Be a disciple multiplier

Text : Mt 28:19-20

  1. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit,
  2. And teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Intro

The primary command of the Great Commission is Make Disciples.

The instructions to “go,” “baptize,” and “teach” are indirect commands

The Great Commission is enabled by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

1.We are disciples maker or multipliers

  • We must have passion for the lost -

Ellen G. White says, “The church of Christ is God’s appointed agency for the salvation of men. Its mission is to carry the gospel to the world. And the obligation rests upon all Christians….”

Do you have the passion for lost souls? If you have then

  • Soul-winning will be the main business of our lives.
  • We shall be ready to relinquish secondary things and set our priority right.
  • The concern for the lost will move not only our heart but our feet.
  • We shall be willing to lose our lives for the sake of others.
  • We shall rejoice when a soul is saved.

2.We must have our vision to reproduce

  • Have a small group of hungry people who are willing to commit themselves to being trained and taught how to be like Jesus.
  • The end goal of disciple making is that those who have been discipled will become more like Jesus and know how to help others to become more like Jesus.
  • Jesus is the perfect model of what it means to make and multiply disciples.

3.Mission - sending them out

The goal was that “he might send them out” and they would do with others what

He had done with them.

  • Reaching out to local community through evangelism

“Go out to the highways and hedges and compel people to come in, that my house may be filled.” (Lk 14:23)

  • Planting new churches locally and abroad

The ultimate goal of all disciple-making and leadership development is planting churches that multiply as a means to reach those who have yet to hear the Gospel in our world.

25 and when they had preached the word in Perga, they went down to Attalia. 26 From Attalia they sailed back to Antioch, where they had been committed to the grace of God for the work they had now completed. 27 On arriving there, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles.” ( Acts 14: 25-27)

Conclusion

Jesus sent out the disciples and he also gave them authority, they were fully empowered and commissioned to go into the uttermost part of the world.

We're in the last days, and the enemy knows it. As followers of Jesus Christ, it's our responsibility to reach out to the lost and put God's Word to practice.
